Sewing & upholstery

Cafe Curtains / Two Trains Running / Triad Stage 2019

I sewed hems around the edges and initially made the curtains with a rod pocket. The designer then altered their vision and wanted rings, so I hand stitched rings onto the curtains. I made four panels for two windows.

diner booths / two trains running / triad stage 2019

We found two booths at a restaurant supply store. I reupholstered those booths with the designers chosen fabric. Our carpentry team built the corner booths with similar dimensions, and I upholstered them to match. I later added the upholstered top and side panels, as well as bead-board sheets for backing .

13’ tablecloth / a midsummer night’s dream / triad stage 2018

I laid out fabric, and using a clear 6” ruler, I chalk patterned the spacing for a box pleat. I ironed in the pleats and then machine stitched at the top to secure. I laid the top fabric over the table, pinned, and stitched the tabletop cloth to the banquet table skirting. To complete, I hand stitched the corners for optimal fitting, hemmed the skirting, and ironed for crispness.

Sofa / and then there were none / triad stage 2018

I stripped the fabric from the couch and kept pieces to trace patterns. I cut fabric accordingly and reupholstered sofa back and arms, making sure to pattern match. I used ply grip to ensure smooth rounded edges for the sofa backing. I made bias-cut scraps to upholster piping, which I attached to the cushion edges. I finished by hand-stitching the cushions closed.

Chaise / Tosca / Palm beach opera 2018

I sourced fabric based on research, I added upholstery to side boards and over batting, and finished by reattaching the sideboards.

8 Bar Stools and 8 chairs / first date / raue center for the arts 2017

I sourced and purchased furniture and fabric. I measured and cut pieces for seat and back cushions, stapled fabric, and screwed cushions back into frames.
